I started as an apprentice farrier to the late and great David Gulley FWCF in 1984 and qualified in 1989 as a Dip WCF
Moving from Leicestershire to Norfolk in April that year and starting my own business
I took and passed my AWCF in 1992 as i had then and still do an interest in remedial shoeing and a modern approach to farriery.
I have shod all sorts of horses from 5* eventers to Shires ,Ponies and happy hacks. In fact in 2024 i still do all of the above!
I continue to stay up to date on new and exciting ways of keeping equines sound i attend many cpd events around the country and webinars worldwide.
I consider myself a traditionally trained farrier with those important basic skills aligned with a modern outlook!
In 2014 i became interested in utilising 3d printing, building several machines myself and making equine orthotics and still do although the machinery i use now has come a long way since then.
I have always advocated barefoot where possible and find that now i am trimming as much if not more than i shoe.
